The Celebrations of a Family 2000 Reunion

Celebrations Programme

10.30 am Morning Celebration Tea, Welcome Wall inspection and and Reunion Welcome Lunch at the Australian National Maritime Museum (ANMM). We will meet with Mr. Fewster, ANMM Director and some media (kindly being organised with help of Ms. Robin Archer and Ms. Fran Mead, Welcome Wall Manager & Members Manager, respectively ) The morning tea celebration (cost $5) will be followed by lunch at the Yot's Cafe at the museum.

Later that day or at dusk - climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge - see Bridgeclimb website, and/or go to the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall to hear Vladamir Ashkenazy conducting the Philharmonia Orchestra in a perfomance of Mahler's 9th Symphony!

Saturday, January 22nd 

The Celebrations of a Family 2000

Reunion Banquet

New Marigold Chinese Restaurant

5th Floor, 683 George Street, Haymarket (Chinatown) 

5-6pm Pre-dinner drinks and welcome 

6pm Dinner commences

7-8pm Family History Presentation and Speeches

(please note the speeches are open to anyone who wishes to say something) 

8pm Dinner continues with approximate finish between 10-11pm

Remember to bring your cameras and video cameras to record this event.

 After dinner, if enough interest and energy- Dance or Jazz club to be organised.

Sunday January 23nd

Morning free to relax and sleep in!

2pm - Meet at Centennial Park Duck Ponds for inspection of Family Tree (Hoop Pine) and Family Photo before heading to Gary's place at 3 Northumberland Street, Clovelly for an afternoon swim at beach, wine tasting and summer evening BBQ.

Monday January 24th

Free day shopping, or sight-seeing.  and perhaps a night at the Opera House to see and listen to Vldamir Ashkenazy conducting the famous London-based Philharmonia orchestra with world-reknown pianist, Marth Argerich playing the Chopin First Piano Concerto and later Brahms Symphony no.2.

Tuesday January 25th

Double celebration

12 .30pm lunch at Doyle's Seafood restaurant at Watson's Bay to celebrate Robert Leong's 46th birthday and Dennis Leong's 68th birthday!

I'd suggest taking a ferry from Cirular Quay (leaves wharf 4 at 11.45 am) to Watson's Bay rather than driving! Trip takes about 30 mins but it is truely beautiful!

7pm Invitation for dinner from (Aunty) Joyce Fong-Tavares (nee Lim) and Jackie & Dennis Wong, Robyn Clubb and Families at the Mandarin Club, cnr Goulburn and Pitt Streets, Sydney.

Wednesday January 26th

Grand Finale and Fireworks Celebration

11.30 am-2.45pm buffet lunch harbour cruise to witness Australia Day Harbour celebrations, including Ferrython and Tall Ships race.

Cost Adults $60 and children 5 years or above $50.

6.30 pm Inspection of Welcome Wall Family Names followed by BYO Picnic at Australian National Maritime Museum (opens at 7pm to ticket holders- so must have a ticket with an accompanying member), Darling Harbour for Australia Day Fireworks Display at ~9pm.

All events require pre-booking and organisation so please email me which celebrations you wish to attend. Any other suggestions about this preliminary programme are very welcome! Those not on my email list will receive this program by post mail! Nevertheless spread the news about the reunion and this programme to any relatives you are in contact with!
